Biomedical Equipment Technician II or III (Brainerd, MN)


  • Develop, monitor, and control budgets to assure the most cost-effective and efficient operation
  • Perform routine tasks involved equipment operation and checkout, repairs, preventative maintenance, quality assurance practices, procedures, and documentation
  • Perform safety tests to ensure patient and staff safety related to electrical/mechanical hazards
  • Document the introduction of new therapeutic and diagnostic equipment, corrective and preventive maintenance actions, and special requests as required
  • Assist in the evaluation of new equipment as required and make recommendations
  • Develop new equipment testing templates procedures
  • Familiarity with the setup and application of all test equipment (ESA, ESU, Patient Simulator, Defib, etc.)
  • Maintain adequate files and parts inventory
  • Maintain timely and accurate electronic records by documenting preventive maintenance, repairs, and tracking parts
  • Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergencies
  • Assist fellow co-workers on-site when needed
  • Assumes accountability for his/her position and equipment, e.g. extends self when unusual need arises
  • Participates in ongoing professional development activities
  • Comply with and follow regulations by adhering to company policies, procedures, regulatory standards, codes, and manufacturer's specifications
  • Establish and maintain excellent customer, vendor, and internal relationships
  • Provide backup support for regional personnel during time-off/vacations
  • All other duties assigned

Requirements :

  • Minimal: two-year Associate degree in Electronics or Biomedical Equipment Technology or equivalent Military Training
  • Strong technical aptitude and extensive knowledge of a broad range of biomedical equipment operation and maintenance
  • A minimum of 3 years (Level II or III) of experience working with hospitals/clinics
  • Familiarity with pertinent regulatory agencies and the policies, codes, standards, and regulations that apply to clinical equipment
  • The ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and Web-Based Applicant
  • Ability to lift, move 35-50 lbs.
  • Must pass complete background check, drug screening, and provide appropriate and applicable references
  • A valid Driver’s License
  • AAMI CBET certification is desirable
  • Certificates of training from OEM or third party on specialty equipment
  • Substantial knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology
  • Good English language skills to comprehend instructions and communicate effectively
  • Must enjoy field service work, and travel to customer sites within the area that include, but are not limited to, hospitals, clinics, or surgery centers
